PCGG’s Opening Activity for National Women’s Month Celebration 2018
As part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD), the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) actively took part in the National Women’s Month Celebration for the year 2018. This annual celebration aims to celebrate the achievements of women and girls in various fields and recognize their contributions in the society.
During its Opening Activity held on 14 March 2018 at the PCGG Grounds, PCGG Chairperson Reynold S. Munsayac, Commissioner Rey E. Bulay, and Commissioner John A. Agbayani, encouraged the employees of the PCGG to continue to endeavor for the empowerment of women. This is in hopes of cultivating an environment wherein women can securely and meaningfully engage in their works to help them continually expand their potentials, and ensure that they can play a significant part in bringing about development and changes to the society, as well as benefit from such contribution.
The PCGG personnel were apprised about the theme “We Make Change Work for Women” which will be used from 2017-2022, highlighting the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development. The theme particularly emphasizes that women should be active drivers in bringing about positive changes, and that they should also reap from fruits of development efforts. This can be made possible by empowering women – enabling them to meaningfully engage with other development stakeholders, and by fully implementing the Magna Carta of Women.
Make Over by Mary Kay
Beauty as a Tool of Empowerment – PCGG Conducts Make Over Session for Female Employees
Empowering women is integral in catalyzing a society which promotes an improved quality of life for women, men, families and communities.
In furtherance of PCGG’s commitment of promoting women empowerment, the PCGG GAD Cluster 3 conducted a “Make Over Session by Mary Kay” on 20 March 2018 at the PCGG Old Conference Room which was attended by female employees.
The session was aimed at boosting the confidence of female employees through social self-presentation and self-image management. Representatives from Mary Kay Philippines gave a tutorial on how to utilize invaluable tools like skincare or makeup in giving the extra boost of confidence that women need to make them feel their best.
Empowering Women through Self-Defense
The PCGG GAD TWG Cluster 3 hosted a women’s self-defence class which ran from March 15, 16, 20 and 22, 2018 at the PCGG open grounds. This free self-defence class is one of the highlighted activities of this year’s celebration of Women’s Month as PCGG aims to promote the well-being of women through self-defence.
This 4-day Brazilian Jujitsu class was facilitated by Mr. Jello C. Berrardo, a Barzilian Jujitsu instructor – experienced in the art of self-defence. The self-defence class consisted of demonstration, practical exercises and talks on the basic principles of self- defence, survival and awareness of the vulnerable areas of the body.
According to the organizers, the event was attended by 46 PCGG employees.
Road to Financial Wellness
Last March 23, 2018, Pru-life advisors Mr. Meynard Castillo and Mr. Joseph Anthony Guillermo conducted a one-day affair to talk about empowering women through financial wellness – insurance coverage and investment.
Many of us become apprehensive when we hear the word ‘insurance’ or ‘investment’. We see it as an added expense that we do not presently need. But did you know that we have four (4) basic competitors in life? They are: (1) Old age (retirement); (2) Death; (3) Disability; and (4) illness/sickness. How do we financially prepare for what is sure to come? Our financial advisors summed it up in four easy steps. PRIORITIZE GOALS. DO THE MATH. CRAFT A PLAN. GET INSURED/INVEST.
This event was attended by 37 PCGG employees.
Fit for Change
One of the main thrust of PCGG’s celebration of Women’s Month this year is the premium on self to be able to make change work, especially for women. Thus, the PCGG GAD TWG Cluster 3 conducted a series of talks on the topic of health and wellness last March 15,16, 20 and 27, 2018 which was well attended by 45 PCGG employees.
Mr. Nino Rabbay Dalusong, the esteemed speaker for the 4-day affair, talked about the importance of having a robust program on wellness, fitness and development not only in the privacy of our own homes but in our government offices as well. The talk showcased how these programs on health and wellness enhances the work and lifestyle of women in keeping them motivated to beccome the change that they want to be, in the workplace and at home.
