Commissioner Marco M. Bautista has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas and studied Law at Far Eastern University, passing the BAR exams in 1991. He worked as a Sheriff IV in the Regional Trial Court of San Mateo Rizal while teaching at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines from 1988 to 1989. He also became Pasig City’s Prosecuting Attorney II from 1991 to 1994. He then moved back to Abra to serve as the General Manager of Abra Electric Cooperative from 1997 to 2007.
 
Following his political career, Atty. Bautista ran as San Juan, Abra’s Municipal Mayor. As the local chief executive, Municipality of San Juan is a consistent awardee of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) and the very 1st to receive such award in the province of Abra. After serving three consecutive terms from 2007 to 2016, he got appointed as the Department of Tourism’s Undersecretary for Farm, Faith, Ecotourism, and Convergence Program in 2018.
 
Before joining the PCGG, he also acted as the Department of Tourism’s Undersecretary for Administration, Special Concern, and Convergence Program from 2018 to 2019 and Undersecretary for Disaster Response and Management Group at Department of Social Welfare and Development from 2022 to 2023.
