PCGG’s Opening Activity for National Women’s Month Celebration 2023

By virtue of Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988, “Providing for the observance of the Month of March as “Women’s Role in History Month”, the role of the Filipino women in social, cultural, economic, and political development throughout history is emphasized and given importance. The celebration calls for a month-long observance of appropriate ceremonies and activities spearheaded by the Commission.

One of the objectives of the National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) is to strengthen the enactment of the Magna Carta of Women (R.A. 9710), so that women capitalize on their capability to reach their full potential and empower them not only in leadership roles but in other opportunities as well.

This year’s theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” which is a recurring theme from this year to 2028 celebrates achievements and awareness in many issues affecting the rights of women.  The acronym “WE” stands for Women and Everyone in pursuit of gender equality and Women Empowerment, equal rights, and opportunities to further themselves.

In observance of the much-celebrated Women’s month which is also celebrated nationwide, the GAD Kick-Off Ceremony of the PCGG was led by its Chairperson John A. Agbayani who focused on women’s empowerment and acknowledged the unequal roles of women in social progress. Several events and activities were lined-up for the month of March such as Womenpreneur, Women of the Month, Film Showing, Sports week, Museum Day Out, and execution of Fire Drill. The PCGG Commissioners, MGen Rhoderick M Parayano (Ret) and Atty. Raymond Anthony C. Dilag also gave their all-out support for the activities.

WE encouraged ALL employees to observe Purple Wednesday by wearing the official NWMC advocacy shirt in purple for justice, dignity, and loyalty to the cause of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Furthermore, GAD Plans and Programs during the NWMC were done through the mutual efforts of the GAD-TWG Head, GAD-TWG Members, Commissioners, and the PCGG Employees. As part of the PCGG’s GAD advocacy, it continues to implement GAD activities by conducting seminars such as GAD Sensitivity Training, GAD Planning and Budgeting, Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines, and other GAD related seminars and workshops.
